Not overwhelmed

Spent the weekend with friends who are actually family, my crazy creative family that loves to dance and drum (and eat cake) and fill the space with colour and laughter and give all that they are the the One that inspires and outspires - breathes out life and love too deep for words. But here are some words, a humble offering, because being in that place I can't help but watch and listen and move and when I take a break from the dancing, pick up a pen and write...

Over

He is not overwhelmed
By the dark, by the deep, the storm, the to-do list, the money, the need
he is not overwhelmed

By our smallness
By the long night
By our frailty
He is not overwhelmed

He has already overcome
Light laughing
Shadow scattering
Curtain ripping
Lie shredding
Fear slaying
Brokeness healing
Gathering all the lost ones
Calling home the forgotten and the lonely

He has overcome
What we accept as 'just the way it is'
Trappings of materialism
Lack of hope
The desert and the drought
Barrenness and bitterness
He has overcome

He has overcome
And He is not overwhelmed
And so we
We his tent, his temple
His dwelling place
We overflow
We are filled to overflowing
With the Overcomer

So we need not be overwhelmed

He overflows
We overflow
Our leaky broken jars
Leaking glory
Transformed in the light
Treasure that takes the place
Of our failures and fears and feebleness

We overflow
With life unlimited, love everlasting
Hope stubborn, grace like a flood

We are not overwhelmed

With him we overcome.
